CULLERCOATS COLLECTIVE

What?

Funding has been used for the creation of Beach Ambassadors – to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and to help create a positive environment for communities and visitors. A team of volunteers will be situated in and around Cullercoats Bay on warm weekends, providing a friendly face and offering advice to visitors. They will work alongside others, such as local council beach wardens and Northumbria Police to help highlight issues before they become more serious problems. They will also run free events that will run on the beach throughout the summer from yoga to kayaking. These sessions will be aimed at groups that often find themselves involved in ASB.

Why?

Our police should not be alone in working to prevent crime and community initiatives like this can make a real difference. Anti-social-behaviour is always a concern for local residents and we will be monitoring the impact the scheme has on crime levels in the area.
