Through Sunderland Altogether Improving Lives in Sunderland and City Safe in Newcastle, the focused deterrence model brings together a range of partners to identify young people causing the most harm in the city centres, and works to address their behaviour, as well as responding to the wider needs of their families.
This intensive support has seen young people re-engage with education and undertake training and employment opportunities, therefore providing a positive diversion from violent crime.
