COMMUNITY COUNSELLING CO-OPERATIVE

What?

Being a victim of crime can affect a person’s outlook on life, that’s why it is so important that we offer the right support to all victims. Funding has been used to offer counselling, specifically for male victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, assault and harassment. As well as one-to-one support, it helps make monthly peer support groups possible too.

Why?

We want to help those who have been through awful experiences to move on with their lives and this project is about supporting them with a range of coping strategies and increased self-awareness to help them recover from their ordeal.
Over the last year, the service has received 133 referrals and provided more counselling hours (814) than the 500 originally planned, with many saying the service has meant they are better able to cope with everyday life.
