Police Precept

Home>Transparency>Finance>Police Precept

It is the Commissioner’s responsibility to set the policing element of your Council Tax for the year. The Commissioner does this following consultation with the public, Northumbria’s local authorities and the Police and Crime Panel.

The Precept means how much of your council tax should be spent on policing services in order to deliver value for money. This information is provided in the precept documents which can be found on the left of this page.
