Our Student Support Champions are embedded in eight secondary schools in Newcastle, offering support on local youth violence issues including knife crime.
The team work with young people, including those believed to be at risk or involved in violent crime, on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, in order to build trusted relationships.
They deliver violence reduction themed learning to young people as well as signposting and navigating support from statutory and community-based services.
The project aims to improve school attendance and behaviour, reduce suspensions and exclusions, strengthen community links and prevent serious youth violence.
