Northumbria Victim and Witness Service (NVWS)

Support for victims of: All crime types

Support offered:

  • Referrals to specialist services
  • Information, advice and safety planning
  • Practical support
  • Emotional support
  • Advocacy, including Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) support and Independent Stalking and Harassment Advisor (ISHA) support. NVWS does not offer IDVA support but can refer/signpost to local IDVA services
  • Restorative Justice

Who can access support? Children (0+), young people and adults. Specialist ISVA provision is available for children and young people, and LGBTQIA+ people.

Advocacy after Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA)

Support for victims of: Domestic homicide, domestic abuse related suicide and unexplained death.

  • Advocacy
  • Peer support

Who can access support? Bereaved families and friends (including children).

Brake – National Road Victim Service

Support for victims of: Road crime (fatal and life changing injury road traffic collisions, including witnesses)

  • Practical support

Changing Lives

Support for victims of: Modern day slavery, sexual violence and exploitation, and child sexual abuse and exploitation

Paladin – National Stalking Advocacy Service

Support for victims of: Stalking and harassment

Rape Crisis Tyneside & Northumberland

Support for victims of: Sexual violence, child sexual abuse and child sexual exploitation

  • Therapeutic support
  • Counselling

Who can access support? Women and girls aged 13+. Specialist ISVA provision is available for young people, neurodiverse people, LGBTQIA+ people and those living in rural communities.

The Children’s Society

Support for victims of: Support for children and young people who have experienced child sexual exploitation and/or child criminal exploitation.
