About PCCs

Your Police and Crime Commissioner is elected by you, the public, to hold the Chief Constable and the force to account. They are your voice in the force, making the police answerable to the communities they serve.

Your PCC is responsible for hiring a chief constable, setting the force’s budget and strategic priorities and overseeing other areas of the local criminal justice system, such as victim support services.

The office publishes regular information to show you how the PCC is performing against election promises, and they are held to account on your behalf by a specialist Police and Crime Panel.

Police and Crime Plan

My Police and Crime Plan sets out how your priorities will be acted on by Northumbria Police, covering the years 2021 to 2025. It was written after a major region-wide consultation asking you the public how I should hold the force to account.

Fighting Crime

The North East is one of the safest places in the country and my job is to ensure Northumbria Police maintain their great record here. That’s why my number one priority is fighting crime in our region.

Preventing Crime

I will continue to fight for a well-resourced police force to ensure public safety, but we cannot simply arrest our way out of crime. We need to keep working to intervene and to stop crime in its tracks.

Improving Lives

Crime, and the fear of crime, can cause far-reaching damage both to individuals and local communities. I want to make sure there is always support available for victims or parts of our region that have been hit by crime.
